Greenvalley was founded on a single serious question: Is it possible to create world-class leaders and innovators by design, not by chance?
— Balamurali Vijayaraj, Founder
This question emerged when our founder became a parent and began exploring what parents, schools, and communities must intentionally do to raise children who are independent, capable, and valuable contributors to society.
Before starting the school, Bala spent two years (2010–2012) researching global best practices in education—studying how learning systems develop thinking, capability, and character.
This work was strengthened by the support of Mr. Francis Joseph and his son Mr. Romald Francis, who partnered in providing land, Mr. Rajaganesh and Mr. Vijayaraj provided support, and Mr. Manikandan, Senior Scientist at Bhabha Atomic Research Centre, along with several experienced educators who joined hands in refining Greenvalley's practices.
At Greenvalley, world-class is not defined by marks or ranks alone. Our focus is on nurturing individuals who can create value, adapt, and contribute meaningfully.
Thinks independently
Is curious, resilient, and purposeful
Remains humble
Develops deep expertise in one area and working knowledge across multiple domains
Most education systems, despite good intentions, struggle with three core issues. Greenvalley addresses each one structurally.
Treating all children the same, ignoring their unique pace, interests, and strengths.
Schools testing children while outsourcing actual teaching responsibility to tuition centres.
Prioritising rote learning while ignoring essential 21st-century capabilities.
learners placed across engineering, science, commerce, arts, and liberal studies, in India and abroad.
Outcomes are driven by systems and consistency, not shortcuts.

Greenvalley began in 2012 in a rented house with early years programmes, growing one grade at a time—without shortcuts. Every step was deliberate and built to last.
In 2016, the school moved to its 10-acre campus designed for personalised learning. The spaces were guided by Prakash Nair of Education Design International, ensuring they supported thinking, collaboration, and learner independence.
A second academic block was added in 2021, followed by the Chennai expansion in 2022 with Greenvalley Kriyaalaya International School, supported by Aswin Sundram and family.
Every milestone was earned, not rushed.

As India approaches 100 years of independence, Greenvalley's commitment is clear: to develop at least 10,000 world-class individuals by 2047, contributing meaningfully to India's growth, innovation, and global leadership—strengthening both its hard power and soft power.
This is not a short-term ambition, but a multi-decade commitment to nation-building through education. Parents, educators, and partners who believe in this single-minded goal—and are willing to work patiently and intentionally toward it—are welcome to join us on this journey.
